The Municipal Assessment Agency is a crown-owned corporation with the Minister of Municipal and Provincial Affairs as its sole shareholder. The Agency is governed by a twelve-member Board of Directors. The Board is representative of the Agency's stakeholders with six municipal representatives, two taxpayer representatives, two representatives of the provincial government and a representative from each of the Newfoundland and Labrador Federation of Municipalities and the Newfoundland and Labrador Association of Municipal Administrators.   • Board of Directors Nomination Process.
      Since 1997, the Municipal Assessment Agency is the crown-owned corporation responsible for providing real property valuations for property tax purposes under the Assessment Act. The Agency is governed by a twelve member Board, comprising six elected municipal officials, two taxpayer representatives, two government representatives, and a representative each of the MNL and NLAMA. The six municipal representatives are elected by the municipal clients based on the Agency's by-laws. The remaining nominees are appointed by either the provincial government or their representative group.
